Dec 2011 - Help for charity shops
Geraint is urging people to donate their unwanted Christmas gifts and goodies to charity shops to help boost an industry affected by bad weather and economic conditions.

Last year, many charity shops in South West Wales reported a fall in their intake of donations following the festive period, which was attributed to the heavy snowfall at that time.

Manager Lisa Marsden says that last year donations to the shop fell by 20 per cent. She was forced to run a free collection service.

This year she said that they were busy in the run-up to Christmas but all shops have been affected by the economic climate and recent cold spell.

Geraint said: "We all have unwanted gifts from Christmas that may lie unused for a long time. After Christmas is the time to bring those gifts into charity stores like BHF which always struggle for donations."

The store is also selling raffle tickets for its Christmas hamper. The prize ticket will be drawn on December 23.
