Geraint has welcomed a new memorial to local men who fought fascism in the Spanish Civil War.
It will be unveiled in the exhibition area of the Civic Centre on December 14 and will commemorate the Swansea veterans of the war which lasted between 1936 and 1938.
Geraint said: "I am especially pleased Swansea is paying tribute to those who defended democracy in Spain as my great grandfather was a Spanish seaman named Ferrar who married a Swansea girl and settled in the Uplands.
"It's important we remember the courage of all those who served in the International Brigades defending Spanish democracy during 1936-38 and honour those from Swansea who served in Spain to break the Franco blockade." |
