Swansea disability group joins MP in exposing impact of cuts

Swansea People First today met with Swansea West MP, Geraint Davies, to discuss the impact of the Conservative Government’s spending cuts to people with learning difficulties.

The registered charity for people with learning disabilities in Swansea seeks to empower and promote the rights of those with disabilities, and highlight the barriers to their independence. Geraint Davies MP met with the members of the charity to discuss areas for collaborative working to raise awareness of the impact of the Government’s spending cuts.

Successive reductions to Wales over the last five years have seen £1.3bn taken out of vital public services, and has placed pressure on local authorities across Wales.

Said Geraint Davies, “I heard first hand of how the Conservative cuts to Wales has hit people with disabilities so hard in Swansea, including reductions in services, transport and income that has made a painful difference.”

“We’ll be working together to highlight the impact of the cuts on the most vulnerable in Swansea"
