“Otis came home to Swansea tonight so it was great to welcome him back in person with other friends at the new Rumba cafe by the YMCA”, said Geraint Davies, Swansea West MP.

“He had been taken from his Swansea bed on the Thursday before Christmas to be deported back to Congo on Christmas Day having been previously imprisoned and tortured there. The first response I got from the Minister was that the appeals process had been exhausted but I made clear I would hold her personally accountable for his safety and future if he was forced back into harms way and she intervened.

“It was thanks to the concerted effort of the community and other representations that has got him back to our city of sanctuary.”
