MPs have written to the CEO of British Airways regarding the redundancy of 12,000 British Airways staff.

The decision to issue redundancies for furloughed staff was made, and published on April 28, without consultation with the staff, or their trade unions.

Geraint Davies, Swansea West MP, was among the 37 to sign the letter. He said, ‘We recognise that businesses and the aviation sector in particular have been hit hard by the crisis, but it is totally unacceptable that businesses take advantage of the situation by slashing workers rights and shun the usual consultation with staff.

Willie Walsh, the boss of British Airways’ owner, IAG, will give evidence in a private meeting at the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee today.
