Wales has 5% of the population and 11% of the railways yet less than 1.5% of the investment. Network Rail has just cut £1 billion from its projects, and £700 million has been cut from rail electrification. More investment in desperately needed here, which is not only fair, but will give a huge economic boost to the area.

I led a delegation of four councils, two universities, AMs and MPs in 2014, which led to David Cameron agreeing to extend rail electrification to Swansea, which has since be shot down by Theresa May and this government. I continue to voice the concerns of the community and call for the government to back Swansea’s infastucture.

David Cameron's 2014 promise to electrify the railways to Swansea for "huge economic impact" should be honoured I said in Parliament today
