Geraint Davies MP for Swansea West was a special guest recently at Gors School in Townhill to celebrate the winner of his 2023 MP’s Christmas card competition.

Mr Davies, who attended an assembly at the school before pupils broke up for Christmas, said: ““It was a tough choice picking the best picture to be printed for my 2023 MP Christmas card.

“I received a very warm welcome from the children, who were brimming with excitement at Gors School Townhill.

“They were happy to be congratulated on submitting more picture entries than any other school and each entrant received a personalised thank you letter and the Christmas card featuring the winning entry.

“I was pleased to announce the winner as Willow-Rose Hope who has painted a fantastic Christmas picture of great beauty and complexity.”

Centrally the picture has each letter of Merry Christmas Nadolig Llawen in different colours and designs, including fruits, birds, reindeer, plants, snow and smiles on a blue background with a star, moon tree and clouds.

To the left there is a Christmas tree with a bright yellow star on top and a magical blue mountain that looks like a hat.

To the right is Swansea’s Winter Wonderland carousel with top centre a Welsh flag with a black Swan’s insignia upon it.

He added: “This masterpiece took Willow-Rose Hope two days to complete and she received a great cheer from the school and a book token from me with her printed card.

“I have framed the original painting so it can be displayed in honour at Gors School.

“Inside the card there is Merry Christmas Nadolig Llawen from me, also a picture of a White Dove of Peace flying over a Swansea landscape – featuring Peace Freedom and Justice for all and a thank you from Swansea’s Dr Ahmed Sabra having got back from Gaza to our Swansea NHS.

“On the back of the card, photos feature the work I’ve done in 2023 as MP with our universities, schools and colleges, the police and businesses, charities and council, and for investment in rail and jobs, clean air and combating climate change.

“The children were excited to learn that I would send the card featuring their picture to King Charles so he could hear about the success of Gors School.”
