“In the same way as Boris Johnson appointed and backed Pincher knowing he was “Pincher by name and pincher by nature”, Conservative MPs have backed Boris Johnson since Party-gate knowing he was a liar and a law-breaker as they thought he was a winner. Now that Johnson has lost public confidence the conservative MPs who backed him are sweeping him under the carpet. But they can’t sweep away the policies they backed that have created the highest Covid death rate in Europe and the slowest recovery in the G7. We now suffer higher inflation and a worse cost-of-living crisis with millions of people living in hunger alongside the highest level of taxation since the Second World War. The economy is not growing at all and public services are being cut.

It’s time for a new government focussed on economic growth, re-building our exports and a fair deal for Britain. Last time Labour was in power our UK economy grew by 40 per cent in ten years to 2008 and we doubled investment in both education and our NHS. It’s time for a fresh start, it’s time for a Labour Government to make Britain better.”
